JUNIOR - Elite Development Program (EDP)

JUNIOR - ELITE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - 2023-2024

Basketball New Brunswick is very pleased to once again be offering the Junior Elite Development Program (EDP) for the 2023-2024 season commencing in September in five regions across the province for athletes born in 2010 and 2011 (grade 7 & 8). The updated curriculum aligns with Canada Basketball and New Brunswick's Style of Play, which gives players the foundation needed to progress through EDP, Bantam Elite Camp, and our Provincial Team programs. Each on-court session will focus on developing individual skills and concepts within the offensive and defensive  structures utilized by our summer provincial teams. The junior program is also a key identifier of potential provincial team athletes, and is an integral part of establishing our provincial player depth chart.

To be considered for BNB U14 Provincial Teams,  Bantam Elite Camp, or U13 Development Camp athletes are required to participate in EDP. There will be eight training sessions in the fall and six training sessions in the spring. Each round of training sessions will conclude with a centralized Competition Day.

What's Next?

Bantam Elite Camp/Under-14 Provincial Team Connection: Jr EDP will be used to build a provincial depth chart for Bantam Elite Camp and our Under-14 Provincial Teams(everyone selected for Bantam Elite will be offered a position to represent BNB as a member of our U14 Provincial Teams at Summerfest). BNB is looking for athletes who are dedicated and committed to improving their skills. EDP is designed to have all of our top players learning from an advanced skills-based curriculum to set the ground-work for these programs. Evaluations will be on-going throughout the training sessions (and potentially Spring Competition Day). Athletes wishing to be eligible for Bantam Elite Camp and the Under-14 Provincial Teams are required to participate in EDP.

U13 Development Camp **New in 2024**: BNB is excited to announce a new oppurtunity for athletes to attend a High Performance Camp this summer that continues to build off of the skills and concepts introduced in Jr EDP. This will be a intensive 3 day(2 night) camp for athletes born in 2011 who were not selected for Bantam Elite. The camp will be open to any athlete who participated in Jr EDP and registration will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please see our U13 Development Camp Website for more Details by Clicking Here

Canada Basketball Connection: In the event that BNB is allotted a male and/or female National Team Identification/Tryout spot, EDP will play a key role in deciding which athlete(s) will attend these national selection camps along with input from Canada Basketball based on their evaluations from the National Championships and the New Brunswick provincial athlete depth chart.

For more information on EDP please contact BNB Technical Director, Neil Smith: Neil.Smith@basketball.nb.ca

Refund Policy

If a player withdraws from the program at least one week prior to their region's start date, a full refund will be made. Any other refunds will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by contacting info@basketball.nb.ca.
