We are pleased to announce our Basketball New Brunswick provincial team head coaching lineup for the 2025 summer season! These coaches bring an abundance of basketball experience both as coaches and players, and we believe will be excellent leaders for our provincial team athletes to learn from. This summer our teams will be competing at various tournaments throughout Atlantic Canada, the U15 National Championships, and at Canada Games. We look forward to where these coaches will help to bring our athletes!
Starting with our U15 coaches, this summer Madeline Belding will be our girls U15 head coach, and Brett Curtis will be our boys head coach. Madeline has coached with BNB for many years, and will be entering her third summer with the U15 girls team. Outside of provincial team programming she currently coaches with the UNB women’s basketball team, and previously coached with the University of Windsor and UBC women’s programs. Brett Curtis is taking his first head coaching position with U15, however he has been with the U16 program for the past few seasons. He is currently the head coach of the Harvey High School boy’s basketball team. Both of these teams will travel to Ontario for the U15 National Championships in August.
Our U16 head coaches this summer are Colleen Daly and Brett Speedy. Colleen will be in her second season with the U16 girls team. Outside of provincial team season she also coaches with the UNB women’s basketball program and has previously head coached the Leo Hayes High School varsity girls team. Brett will be taking his first head coaching position with BNB this summer as the U16 boys head coach, but he has assistant coached with u16 for many summer seasons. He is currently in his second season as an assistant coach with Fredericton High School varsity boy’s basketball team.
For our U17 head coaches this summer, we have Bram Russell and James (Jimmy) Watters who are both veteran BNB provincial team coaches. Bram was the U17 head coach last summer, has coached with BNB for 8 years, is currently coaching with the Fredericton High School varsity boys team and has 19 years of high school coaching experience. Jimmy has over 10 years of provincial team coaching experience, including being an assistant coach with the 2022 Canada Games team, and has 20+ years of high school coaching experience, and is a former NBIAA Coach of the Year. Both of these teams will travel to St John’s Newfoundland for Canada Summer Games in August.
