Fall Edition of Jr Elite Development Program Wraps Up Until Spring

2019-10-21

Jr EDP Girls at Fall Competition Day

The fall portion of Basketball New Brunswick's popular Junior Elite Development Program (Jr EDP) wrapped up on Sunday with over 250 girls and boys competing at the UNB Currie Center in Fredericton.

Athletes took part in eight training sessions across five different regions in New Brunswick before meeting up to compete with their peers in the 3x3 format event. The players were randomly mixed up on teams and all of the program coaches were in attendance to help guide them through the new transitions and skills they learned throughout the first half of the program.

The second half of Jr EDP will pick up again in the spring (April) where the athletes will complete another six training sessions in their own region, followed by another centralized competition day. The format for that event will be full-court 4x4 and coaches will be in attendance to evaluate the players with the top 80 (40 girls and 40 boys) moving on to BNB's summer Bantam Elite Camp.

Some of the Jr EDP groups have already reached their maximum capacity, while others will have spots available for new registrants in the spring.
