Calling All Coaches! 2021 Canada Summer Games Coaching Certification Requirements

It may seem like August 2021 is a long way away... but it will be here before we know it!

The next rendition of the Canada Summer Games will take place in Niagara, Ontario from August 6-21, 2021. An opportunity that only arises every four years, BNB's U17 men's and women's teams will once again take part.

The coach and athlete selection process will closely mirror a typical (busy) summer provincial team tryout procedure but there are a few extra I's to be dotted and T's to be crossed when it comes to the Canada Games.

COACHES! Here is what you need to know:
- The call for coaches will be going out in the fall of 2020 with the final selections being made by the end of December.
- Each coaching staff will include one (1) head coach, one (1) assistant coach, and one (1) manager.
- Both the Head Coach and Assistant Coach are required to have their NCCP Level 3 or Train to Compete (T2C) certification. (This includes the 3 technical modules offered by Canada Basketball and the 6 theory modules offered by Coach NB - CLICK HERE to see a full breakdown of what you need).
- If the above standards are not met by the time applications are being reviewed, coaches have until February 5, 2021 to finish all course work and certification processes. (Please note, achieving this certification is not a quick process and should be already near completion leading up to the call for coaches in the fall of 2020)
- Each team is required to have at least 50% of their team staff the same gender as the players (ex: female team must have at least two female staff members).
