Canada Basketball & Wheelchair Basketball Canada Release their Return to Basketball Plan Version 1.0

2020-06-16

Canada Basketball & Wheelchair Basketball Canada Return to Basketball Plan

Basketball New Brunswick has reviewed the Canada Basketball/Wheelchair Basketball Canada plan and would like to highlight the following items for consideration:
  • All areas of New Brunswick who are currently in the yellow phase of re-opening (as of June 16, 2020) would be in Canada Basketball's Phase 2 (Phase 1 in BNB's Plan).
  • Participants should remain with the same training group to prevent the potential spread of the virus to other groups.
  • Spectators may be permitted based on the age of the participants (12 and under), the size of the facility and if the maximum allowable numbers for the space are not being exceeded. Spectators must remain at least 2m from each other at all times.
  • Participation is considered voluntary and not a requirement. Individuals who are not comfortable participating at this time will not be subject to punitive measures.
  • It is recommended that coaches thoroughly read the section on easing back into training (page 5-6) and use a periodization plan to reduce the risk of injuries.
  • The Canada Basketball document includes the mental aspects of returning to training – an important aspect that is often overlooked.
  • If people have questions concerning the BNB or CB documents, please do not hesitate to contact BNB at info@basketball.nb.ca
