Age Category for Rescheduled 2022 Canada Summer Games Announced

Since the difficult decision was made to postpone the Canada Summer Games in Niagara to August 2022, Canada Games Council (CGC) has been working collaboratively with all affected National Sport Organizations (NSOs) to review each sport’s technical package and its athlete eligibility rules.

For the sport of basketball, the age eligibility has been changed to "18 or Under as of December 31, 2022" (players born in 2004 or later). This will allow the athletes who were originally eligible for the 2021 Games to still be allowed to compete in 2022. 

Basketball New Brunswick will be reviewing our original Canada Games Team Plan package and will make announcements in the coming months about what the revised selection process will look like.
