3x3 Canada Quest - New Brunswick Qualifier

The 3x3 event will host Men’s' and Women's Open/Elite Adult divisions (19+), as well as a Wheelchair Open Co-ed division. The winners of the Men's and Women's Open Divisions in each of the 3x3 Canada Quest Provincial Qualifier tournaments across the country will qualify for the 3x3 Canada Quest Finals, taking place July 8-10, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario. The winning Men’s and Women’s teams in each province will have all travel and accommodation expenses covered to the 3x3 Canada Quest Finals, where they will have the chance to compete for a $15,000 grand prize. The winner of the 3x3 Canada Quest Men’s Final will also earn a berth in an international FIBA 3x3 Event.

Registration will open on Tuesday, May 31st.

“3x3 basketball is growing in popularity across the country and we are excited to work with Parasport NB on our first 3x3 Canada Quest event. We want to provide more opportunities for athletes to experience this fast paced and exciting brand of basketball starting with this National Qualifier on June 18th,” said Carolyn Peppin, Executive Director of Basketball NB.

The 2022 3x3 Canada Quest Qualifier represents an exciting first step for a Basketball NB and Parasport NB partnership. The goal is for teams and athletes to have more great opportunities to experience 3x3 basketball later on in the summer months.

A unique spin on the traditional 5x5 game, 3x3 basketball features only three players per team, a shortened shot clock and game clock, as well as a half-court for the field of play. Games are frequently hosted outdoors in a festival-type atmosphere. FIBA 3x3 tournaments are hosted around the world and the sport made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in the summer of 2021.

The Canada Quest 3x3 Men's and Women's Open divisions will follow the guidelines for 3x3 competition established by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The Open Wheelchair division will follow modified 3x3 rules (game length) set by Parasport NB.
