BNB Celebrates the Successes of Fall EDP Programs and NCCP Clinics!

2022-11-02

Following our Fall Jr and Sr EDP competition days, we want to reflect on the success of the season so far and prepare everyone for our Spring sessions!

Through the month of October, we had the opportunity to host both our Junior and Senior EDP groups for their competition days!

Our fall Junior EDP groups have been meeting in 5 locations across the province since mid-September for 8 training sessions each. The more than 200 athletes in this year’s program were separated into 22 girls teams and 17 boys teams for the Junior EDP competition day in Moncton on October 16th. Each team played 4 games of continuous 3 on 3 each, and the hard work and improvement from both the athletes and coaches are evident.

We want to thank all the coaches, parents, volunteers, and players that made Jr EDP possible this fall, and we can’t wait to see you all during our spring sessions in March! The program will open for Spring participants (where space allows) in February.

Levelling up, on October 29th and 30th we were joined by our Senior EDP athletes for a weekend of training and a competition day. We saw over 140 athletes in the U15 and U17 age groups, some new, and some returning to EDP and the provincial program. Athletes were joined by 20 of the top high-performance coaches from across the province.

Saturday consisted of training and challenging players using small sided games to develop some advanced concepts. The beginnings of this can be found in our BNB Coaches Curriculum. Sunday was competition day, where teams were formed and tipped off against each other in 4-on-4 games throughout the day.

Players will start their high school seasons later this month and return to our high-performance stream in the spring. Potential changes to the Sr. EDP program are coming in advance of the 2023 provincial team season and will be announced when finalized.

Both groups of players have been supported with off-court strength and conditioning, performance nutrition & sports psychology through the Gold Medal Performance Program

Adjacent to our Sr EDP fall session, we were happy to offer an NCCP Train to Train course. Coaches participating in the course were able to observe concepts modelled by our high-performance coaches as well as gain on-court experience assisting in drills and training.

Coaches interested in future coaching clinics can check our website for upcoming opportunities for NCCP courses as well as our new Coaches Open House Series. To access drills and practice plans utilized by our high-performance coaches, view our Coaches Curriculum
