Spotlight on U17, U15 Teams

A remarkable amount of players in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association have worn the colours of their home province at national and international events.

This weekend at the MWBA’s Legacy Cup championship, under-17 and under-15 girls’ teams from Basketball New Brunswick, Basketball Nova Scotia and Basketball Prince Edward Island will play on the big stage at TD Station in Saint John.

The age class teams are preparing for Canada Basketball championships later in the summer and the MWBA is welcoming the teams with open arms to showcase their talents during Legacy Cup weekend.

The first game will be played Saturday at 9 a.m. when BNB faces BNS in under-15 play prior to the MWBA’s consolation game at 11 a.m.

BNB and BNS lock horns in under-17 play at 3 p.m., prior to the MWBA’s semifinal matchups that will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

On Sunday, BNB and BNS meet again in under-17 play at 9 a.m. while BNB and BPEI play at 11 a.m.

The MWBA bronze medal game is set for 1 p.m. and its championship game goes at 3 p.m.
